MIWA hotel locking, distributed in the UK and Greece
ICA Systems is the official MIWA distribution partner for the United Kingdom and for Greece, supplying, installing and supporting MIWA electronic locking for hotels, resorts and serviced accommodation.
Two territories, one supply and support chain
MIWA is a Japanese lock manufacturer whose electronic hotel locking is used by hotel groups worldwide. ICA Systems holds the distribution appointment for the United Kingdom, and through ICA Systems I.K.E. for Greece, covering specification, supply, installation, commissioning and ongoing service in both territories.
That means one relationship for a hotel group operating on both sides of Europe: the same hardware range, the same front desk software, the same engineering support and the same spares supply, whether the property is in London or on a Greek island.
Stock and spares
Locks, escutcheons, handles and parts held for both territories, so a failed lock is replaced rather than waited on.
Installation and handover
Room-by-room installation planned around occupancy, with front desk staff trained before the system goes live.
Software and integration
Front desk and mobile key software, PMS interfaces and access control integration configured to the property.
Service contracts
Planned maintenance, software updates and fault response for the working life of the installation.
The EU Cyber Resilience Act and hotel locking
The EU Cyber Resilience Act sets cyber security requirements for products with digital elements sold into the European Union. A hotel lock with a wireless interface, a mobile key app and a front desk server is exactly that kind of product, so the regulation matters to anyone specifying locking for a European property now rather than later.
Vulnerability reporting
Manufacturers must report actively exploited vulnerabilities and severe incidents affecting their products to the European authorities.
Full requirements apply
Products placed on the EU market must meet the Act's essential cyber security requirements, carry CE marking on that basis and ship with security documentation.
Security updates for the lifetime
Manufacturers must handle vulnerabilities and provide security updates for a declared support period, expected to be at least five years for most products.
What this means for a property owner
A guest room lock installed today will still be in service well past 2027. Specifying hardware from a manufacturer with a long-term firmware and security update programme, rather than one that treats a lock as a sealed mechanical product, is what keeps an estate supportable. ICA Systems works with MIWA on product roadmaps and update paths, and will confirm the current compliance position and declared support period for any specific model at the point of quotation.
Dates and obligations above summarise the Regulation for general guidance. They are not legal advice, and the position for Greek properties and for UK properties exporting into the EU should be confirmed for each project.
Japanese engineering, specified room by room
The ALV3 range covers wide, slim and separate reader formats on one platform, in six finishes and five handle designs, so the lock suits the door and the interior rather than dictating them. Full specifications, finishes and datasheets are on the hospitality page.
- Built to open hundreds of thousands of times without complaint
- Built-in mobile key capability
